Africa’s economic success is fuelling an unprecedented investment boom. As the international business community turns to the continent and domestic companies expand their operations regionally, the role of sustainability has never been more important.
Analysis of sustainability metrics for hundreds of companies on the continent reveal:
- Southern Africa has the highest disclosure rate at 70% of the companies listed in the Barometer
- North African companies constitute just 5% of the total companies on the Barometer
- Nigerian companies, which form 14% of the Barometer, invest in varied CSR programmes
- 71% of the reporting companies direct CSI to education and skill development
